2014 Oscar Dresses

Oscars 2014 is one of the most important social and fashion events of the year. They cause a virtual annual storm in the fashion and entertainment world. On the red carpet, stars of the silver screen, music and the catwalk are, while not admitting it, competing for the right to be called “The most stylish woman on the Earth”. And of course many high profile men hope to raise their profile by accompanying one of these style queens.

The fashion critics were merciless to some of the Hollywood stars but others received deserved compliments. In our top 5 of the most stylish women this year we ranked Lupita Nyong’o, Cate Blanchett, Charlize Theron, Amy Adams and Angelina Jolie.

A New Star is Born

Lupita Nyong'o is a new name on the red carpet.

Despite being a newbie, she topped many fashion charts with admiring eyes turned towards the newcomer. Nominated for a best supporting actress role, she led the style at this year's Oscars red carpet with her Prada gown in “pale blue like the sky above Nairobi and inspired by champagne bubbles” as she described it.

Currently she is a face of Prada sister line Miu Miu. Lupita looked like a winner when making her entrance and when picking up her Oscar, she showed that she was also a winner in the eyes of the Academy.

AA Grade for Amy

Amy Adams looked stunning with a midnight blue Gucci strapless dress which is absolutely perfect.

"I put this on and I felt like I was one with the dress” said she. Blue is definitely her color! The look was completed with Tiffany jewels.

Gucci, Tiffany and Amy Adams! Now that's a combination we like a lot.

Waiting for Angelina

We and just about everybody else were waiting to see how Angelina Jolie would surprise us this time.

Wearing a form-fitting metallic gown by the Lebanese born designer Elie Saab, diamond earrings and an engagement ring, she was irresistible.

As always, Angelina was stylish and radiant in her own unique way.

Captivating CateCate Blanchett Oscars 2014

Cate Blanchett has a captivating presence on the big screen and on the red carpet, she captivates with elegance and class.

As could be expected, Cate was dazzling on the red carpet with a blush gold Giorgio Armani dress, embellished with capiz shells and even if we were wondering how comfortable it was to sit in, her look was gorgeous.

"It's heavy, but I love it," revealed the Best Actress Oscar winner. So do we Cate. So do we!

Charlize in Black

Charlize Theron went the opposite route of last years dress with her figure hugging black Dior gown.

She completed her look with diamond jewelry. However, in our opinion, the invisible straps were a a bit of downer.

There were so many stunning and amazing dresses to see that it would be impossible to comment on all of them. The dresses were a mixture of beautiful, elegant, sexy, dubious, memorable and forgettable. It all depends on taste I guess.

For fashion lovers, the Oscars provide a night of great excitement and a lot of debate. While we might not all agree we love it just the same.  Roll on Oscar Night 2015.
